Man’s Proposal goes with the Flow

Wedding rings are often a substantial financial commitment but, according to a report from Reuters news agency, London floor fitter, Lefkos Hajji, may wish he hadn’t spent so much on his wedding ring after an elaborate proposal to his girlfriend, Leanne, went horribly awry. According to the report, Mr Hajji concealed the wedding rings inside a helium balloon and hoped for his girlfriend to pop the balloon as he popped the question but Mother Nature had other ideas as a freak gust of wind blew the balloons, wedding rings from the luckless lothario’s grasp as he left the shop.

Wedding Rings - Gone With the Wind

According to the report on Reuters, the wedding rings’ flight for freedom began when he left the shop and a gust of wind took the helium balloons from his grasp and sailing over the rooftops of London. To make matters worse, the wedding rings were by no means of the cheap variety having just set back Mr Hajji in excess of £6,000. Speaking to Reuters, Mr Hajji states, “I couldn't believe it. I just watched as it went further and further into the air. I felt like such a plonker. It cost a fortune and I knew my girlfriend would kill me.” Mr Hajji wasn’t prepared to give up that easily, however, and spent the subsequent two hours chasing the wedding rings in his car; alas, to no avail.

Wedding Rings - What Goes Up…

All is not is lost so far as the wedding rings are concerned according to Mr Hajji although he admits that his girlfriend has been less than impressed with his exploits after telling her of his faux pas. Speaking to Reuters, Mr Hajji states, “I thought I would give Leanne a pin so I could literally pop the question. But I had to tell her the story -- she went absolutely mad. Now she is refusing to speak to me until I get her a new wedding ring. It would be amazing if someone found it though.”
